Cannot read TOC header

Postby siftyul » Fri Oct 16, 2009 2:04 pm

I am trying to copy a DVD but get this error:

Cannot read TOC header
and
Read fulltoc problems

Using Infrarecorder version 0.50.0.0 on XP with drive LiteOn LightScribe DH20A4P

I have no other problem with the drive nor Infra recorder software. I have read this DVD and others with other software and it works just fine.

Anyone has an idea why this is happening?

Best regards,

Jean

Same story here, albeit in a different environment. Running InfraRecorder 0.50 on Windows 7 32bit RTM. Recorder is: "LG Electronics HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N" and I get these same errors while trying a DVD to DVD copy:

Cannot read TOC header
Read fulltoc problems

I'm the same.

InfraRecorder 0.50 (both portable and installable) on Windows Vista Business x64.
Recorder: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NS30 1.01 (maybe LG, I'm not sure because I can't see it).
Source Media: DVD+RW (with homemade videocam recording: VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS dirs, but I don't know about them was been generated or the DVD created).

Same error when trying to duplicate media.

I've done this (after many tests): Not use "Copy Disc" option, but "Read Disc".
This way I've get the same error until I have clicked "Read" tab on the window opened (labeled "Copy to Disc Image") and I've UNCHECKED "Read all sub-channel data and the full TOC".

This new way process starts, media was readed and ISO image was created on my hard disk.

Now I will try to burn it to anoter (blank) DVD.

This has make me think the error could be a source media problem.

Hope this helps.

And sorry for my english.

Well.... bad news.

I'm not able to write ISO image to a blank DVD+R using InfraRecorder 0.50 portable (I've uninstalled installable version).

I've tryed to burn ISO image, created with InfraRecorder, using JetBee Free 5.0.5 too with no success.

ISO image it's OK, VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders are there and their content it's there too (I can see all this browsing ISO image with peazip), but burning it's not possible to me.

It seems there are problems related with "UDF and ISO format" and "image size vs. media size".

So I've tryed to create new DVD Video project and burn on it folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS previously copied "manually" (drag and drop) onto my hard disk.

Not lucky using InfraRecorder. Programs hangs and I must kill it with task manager.

I'm trying to do the same with JetBee, just to see if may be a hardware or media problem, and it seems go on well, burning has finished and verification it's going on now.

I will uptade soon...

Saludos. r0b.

I think it's obvious (from what I write in my posts) but anyway: it's first time I try to do all this (burning and copying DVD-video, I have only little experience using data DVDs and CDs) and it's very first time I use InfraRecorder. I haven't any idea about video DVD format and structure or InfraRecorder options.

Updating last post...

Burning (EDIT: with JetBee) seems OK, and verification too.

Folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS and their content are well burning, but video-DVD are not playable directly. I can see video only by clicking on .VOB files inside VIDEO_TS folder.

I think may be a final Video-DVD structure issue (but JetBee burns the DVD+R and InfraRecorder don't  :o ).

By the way, error messages displayed when I've previously tryed to burn Video-DVD with InfraRecorded are the same that messages reported on this post: http://forums.infrarecorder.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1283

Any ideas to solve all this?

Thanks in advance.

Hey! I'v got it!

Well, more or less...

I've arranged to burn a Video-DVD with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders "dragged and dropped" into my Desktop, and it works!

I've changed de target media from DVD+R to DVD-R and... I've setted options this way:

Window: Burn Compilation

    Tab: General
      On the fly: ON
      Verify disk: ON
      Write Speed: Maximum
Write Method: SAO ??? (I'm not sure to remember it well)
      Copies:1
Eject the disc after writing: OFF??? (I'm not sure to remember it well)
Simulation: ON first time (with an DVD+R was not possible to set it ON), OFF last time (when I've been able to burn correctly Video-DVD)
      Buffer underrun protection: ON
      Pad data tracks: ON
Close the disc after writing: ON
    Tab: Advanced
(First four boxes are OFF, next 3 are not modificable, but first it's ON, and two last are OFF)
So it appears there is something wrong with my burner and DVD+R media for self-made Video-DVDs. May be InfraRecord was not involved in that problem, or may be it was, I don't know.

With an DVD+R and the same settings InfraRecord first "Writes file data". It says at device "HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NS30 1.01" but in fact there are nothing writed on media (in fact burner seems NOT to work at this stage).

At 100% Status change to "Preparing to perform the selected operation", appears a warning message: Some drives don't like closing in simulation mode (??? :o , who wants "simulation mode"? Anybody has selected simulation mode ON? me not, sure). And next... InfraRecord hangs and I must to kill it with task manager, no other way possible.

I FEEL this is a good program, but I'm not able to understand it. So many test and "trys" and... very HARD to me to burn with success.

Any comments or suggestion? (not "RTFM" please) EDIT: by the way: http://forums.infrarecorder.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1288#p1860

I am getting the same error on Windows XP with a LITE-ON SHM-165H6S when using InfraRecorder 0.50.0.0 to record a DVD to an ISO image. I don't know if this helps, but here's the corresponding log:

CCore::ReadDisc

InfraRecorder is a great piece of software, but it seems to have one or the other problem with DVDs. I never encountered any diffiulties when reading or writing CDs so far.

Hey everyone,

I've had this same problem as well but I kind of got it to work. You can't do this with a direct disc copy but if you are saving an Image to your computer there is an option to box for "read TOC Header and sub Channels" in the "read" tab. If you check it off InfraRecorder will then read it.

This might help some but I am pretty certain that the TOC is probably required for a complete duplicate of a DVD.
